Simone Legno, is an italian illustrator that is fond of  the japanese  culture ,that caught the eyes of Ivan Arnold and Pooneh Mohajer cosmetic investors, which lead to the creation of the now well known lifestyle brand Tokidoki.  His style his an elegant “kawaiiness” ,not sure this word exist and my favorite characters are the skulls, the milk box and cactus girl. Handbook Pricing & ethical guideline

2 Comments Book

Whenever you have a doubt about prices, contracts, one of the advises that is given regularly in the american artists community is “according to the Pricing & Ethical guideline…”. I read that comment so many times that I ended up buying it this summer, in order to see what was all buzz about. And I’m happy, I did it.

I was pleasantly surprise to receive a nice box illustrated with their logo on it. I know, you are supposed to judge a product by his content  It is always nice to receive a product in a nice packaging rather that in a cereal box.The book jacket, illustrated by Noah Woods , is very colorful and nice. That’s for the visual part.

Now, is the book worth the 35$ (+  shipping)? Yes, I think so, pretty much. Not only does the book come with a lot of contract templates, tips, a guideline of prices used in the market, a very good explanation of the standard terms you should expect to see, and much more, but also it’s very well defined and covers most of the industry.

I think this book is a must in an artist bookshelf.

How long have you been in the illustration industry and how did you start?
My mom was a freelance illustrator while I was growing  up so I always borrowed her materials and used her drawing table when she was not using it. I was exposed to fashion and magazines and I just loved drawing since the day a crayon was first put in my hand! I went on to study Illustration and receive my BFA from Syracuse University and then I went on for an MA in art education from Columbia University. After my masters degree program I focused on painting for a while but my heart was not fully in the fine art world. Read more

“The Chicago bean” of Anish Kapoor

No Comments sculptor

I’ve recently been in Chicago, it was an extremely short visit but I must say that I’ve been wonderfully impressed by the architecture of the Windy City and the stories of its buildings. One of the things that totally caught my attention is that giant “bean” in the middle of the AT&T plaza. Couldn’t wait to go back home to figure out everything about that sculpture, thanks to wiki, I know that real name of that monument is  Cloud Gate and it was inspire by liquid mercury -personally, at first sight it looked like an alien had just landed in the city in his very futuristic space ship-.  The artist that created this sculpture is Anish Kapoor, check out his website to see more of his work.

No Comments General, Info, Moi?

I am sorry, in next following weeks days, this blog and my website are going to experiment some changes and transformation, as you may have notice I’ve already changed the theme of the blog, but I still have to customize it a bit, and as I have quite fews things to manage for the moment – beginning of September is usually a very busy month for the mommies and sometimes 24 hours in a day are just not enough. As I’m going to customize the blog with my “two left hands”, you might see some weird stuff going around…

île de Ré

No Comments colour lovers, General, inspiration, photos

L’île de Ré is probably one of the nicest place in France. It is as nice and inspiring as one of those precious little towns in la Provence, South of France. If you have the possibility to visit it , do so and try to go to Saint Martin de Ré. And do not forget your bike!
